We think the Vias Verdes are a great initiative with a lot of touristic potential. At the same time, however, a lot of work is still necessary to get all of the 2,500 kilometers of the paths up to par and maintain them properly.

Cycle Through Spain on the Way of El Cid

Start: Burgos – 1100 or 2000 km – self guided
For a true Spanish experience, skip the Camino de Santiago and take the Way of El Cid instead. This 2000km route is much calmer and goes through beautiful and interesting inland areas of Spain – from Castilla to the Mediterranean coast.
