Cycling in Central Spain

Many cyclists visit Spain to cycle along the coasts and on the islands; these areas offer the best weather and infrastructure for cycling. However, some believe that the “real Spain” lies beyond these coastal areas and tourist destinations, in the inland regions of Castile, Aragon, Navarra, La Rioja, and Madrid. Here they find enjoyment in the large, empty, spans of land, the old cities, the small villages where it seems time has stood still, and the incredibly friendly people that they meet along the way.

There are many beautiful long cycling routes throughout the area, including the Camino del Cid, the Ruta de la Plata, and many others. Everyone who has cycled through the interior of Spain comes home with beautiful stories of their adventures, and with a yearning to someday return.
