The Costa Blanca, including the areas in and around Calpe, Javea, and Albir, has attracted increasing numbers of cyclists year after year. Almost everyone rides from the coast into the interior, leaving the busy coast behind for the quiet beauty of the hilly inland area.
The town of Jalon (pronounced Xalo in Valencian) has become a cycling hub where you can sense a real cycling culture. The terraces are full of cyclists, there are good bike rental companes, and there is the cozy Velosol bike café with a real Belgian cycling atmosphere.
Considering these factors, and the fact that Jalon lies at the start of the popular Val de Pop, it was smart of Hans and Jolanda Poortvliet to open up a (bike friendly) Bed and Breakfast here. B&B Buena Idea is located on the CV750 road (the popular road for road cyclists) and just 700 meters outside of the center. The B&B has 7 comfortable double rooms with single beds and own bath room. Hans will be happy to help you if you have any cycling questions; he knows his way in the area when it comes to routes, bike rentals companies, and excursions. Tools are available on the premises and bikes can be parked in an enclosed space. All this makes Bed and Breakfast Buena Idea an excellent and well located starting point for training cyclists, MTBers, and well-conditioned recreational cyclists.
