ROAD CYCLING IN SOUTHERN
SPAIN
International Bikes 51 offers you the opportunity
to enjoy the beauty and climate of Southern Spain on one of our
cycling holiday packages. There
are two distinctive categories to choose from:
-
Training and development weeks in Spain, or;
- Road Cycling Holidays in Spain
1. Training And Development Weeks/Camps
Traditionally, training camps are run on a ´ride yourself into the
ground for 7 days´ basis, with a week of high volume, low quality
training. We have a different approach! Most cyclists want to improve but
with limited training time and conflicting advice from friends and team
mates, they don´t optimise precious saddle time. Our training
and development weeks are designed by qualified coaches to work
on the strengths
and weaknesses of a rider with a view to progress the individual
during the week.
2. Road Cycling Holidays In Spain
Cycling in Spain is different. Like France, Spain is a cycling
nation and there is considerably more respect paid to riders than
in other
nations. Motorists actually slow down if they can´t overtake, and you are
given plenty of room when they do. We have based our cycling holidays away
from the busy coast in a hotel complex just 30 minutes from Malaga Airport
near the town of Coin. Our guides will take you into the surrounding National
Parks and the Guadalhorce Valley, visiting many traditional ´pueblo
blancos´ or white villages on the way.
Location
Andalucia is
often called the ´California Of Europe´ because
of it climate (300+ days of sunshine a year!), the relaxed and friendly
atmosphere, and spectacular scenery. In fact, the sunshine coast has
the warmest climate in Europe which means the sun shines all year round!
Coin
sits above the Guadalhorce valley, which feeds the City of Malaga with
it´s water supply and is full of fruit orchards, olive groves
and crop fields. The Sierra De Las Nieves National Park has some of Andalucia´s
most beautiful ´pueblos blancos´, or white villages, to visit,
including Ronda, Ojen, Istan, Tolox, Guaro and Monda.
The closest airport is Malaga International Airport which is a short
flight from all UK airports (under 3 hours) and the transfer to our hotel
is a mere 30 minutes. If you have a morning flight you can be riding
in the sun in the afternoon!
